These are the words
I heard Christmas Eve 2001 at the age of 48. I had just been diagnosed
with a very rare disease: Metastatic Renal Cell Carcinoma. In laymen’s
terms: kidney cancer that had spread elsewhere – in my case extensively
to my lungs and later to my rib. Most kidney cancer patients die within
1-2 years of diagnosis. There are very few treatments and very little
research since the disease only accounts to 2-3% of all cancers.
The purpose of
this web site is to let you walk this journey with me. Since my diagnosis,
I have recorded my thoughts and feelings extensively and shared it with
hundreds (if not thousands) of people around the world through e-mail.
This site puts everything under one umbrella.
