Dear Praying Friends,
Becky here at the
keyboard. Since Doug's last e-mail some things have been
happening. Doug wrote to you in his last e-mail that he planned on spending
a few hours a couple days a week at the office. That never happened.
His
decreased strength and increased pain have kept him from that goal.
Recent CT's revealed
his cancer is growing; however, most disconcerting is
the fact that an MRI of his brain last week revealed the cancer has
spread
there also. He is presently undergoing whole brain radiation (14 days
worth). The oncologist has significantly increased my husband's pain
medications, which leaves Doug feeling pretty groggy most of the time.
We are both aware
that none of this takes our God by surprise. I am so
thankful that the Lord allowed me to attain my RN degree so that I can
be of
help to my precious husband at this time. With that in mind I have asked
the
hospital for a leave of absence (they assured me there would be a job
for me
when I can return). As a nurse I feel I can be of advantage to Doug
at
home...and he needs me at this time.
During our devotions
together Doug prays that the Lord would be glorified
through him. Recently a friend told us that she gave Doug's web site
to her
friend who was newly diagnosed with cancer - and that friend was greatly
encouraged by what she read. This blesses my husband.
One of my favorite
old time hymns is "Because He Lives." How true and
precious are the words, "Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
because He
lives all fear is gone, because I know who hold the future..."
As a
Christian how thankful we are that God promises to be there for all
of our
tomorrows.
Thank you for your
faithfulness in praying for our family.
Because He lives,
Becky
