Doug’s Health Update 12-21-2001

Dear Praying Friends,

First of all, let me say that we have been very blessed by the overwhelming
response via e-mail and telephone to our situation. (I say "our" because
this affects my whole family). In fact, there have been so many e-mails that
we are unable to respond to each one individually. Please be assured that it
has meant so much to know that you are standing behind us in prayer.

UPDATE: I had the appointment with the Pulmonary specialist yesterday. I
wish I had more news to share. The results of the biopsy last Monday on one
of the nodes on my left lung only confirmed that I have renal (kidney) cell
cancer and that it has traveled to both lungs. (We already knew that).

Therefore I have been referred to a local urologist on Monday and an
oncologist on Friday. We suspect both will order further diagnostic tests
before they come back with a complete diagnosis and treatment plan. We are
now in the "waiting game." However, we are trying to keep on top of this
through research of kidney cancer on the Internet and have found many
resources. We are very fortunate to be here in California where there are
institutions in both Los Angeles and San Francisco that specialize in kidney
cancer cases.

Please pray in prayer for the upcoming consultations and the roller coaster
of emotions my family is going through. I'll keep in touch with further
developments. Again thank you for your prayers and encouragement.

In Christ,
Doug Sutherland
