Dear Praying
Friends,
I've realized
that time has passed so quickly and many of you are inquiring about
how Doug is doing (thank you for your wonderful e-mails). His last whole-brain
radiation treatment (due to the kidney cancer spreading to his
brain) was on September 22. The 16 sessions of radiation was tough going
on my husband - zapping him of what little strength he had. Day by day
we are seeing some of that strength return. A new brain MRI is scheduled
for October 22 (we were told it is important to wait an entire month
as radiation continues to work in the body). And additional CTs of his
chest and abdomen will take place on October 21. Until we get the results
of those tests we don't have much to report on.
It has
been a pleasure to be home full-time taking care of the man I fell in
love with 28 years ago. I've moved a comfy chair into our bedroom so
that I can often sit next to Doug and it is there that God has given
us precious times together as we talk, pray, laugh, cry, and even sing
together. (Doug is not bed-ridden but often needs to lie down to decrease
his discomfort.) In fact, due to his increased strength Doug has been
able to join Kim and me at our church's Sunday service the last few
weeks - which gives him great pleasure to worship the Lord together
with a body of believers.
Doug and
I often talk about how wonderful it is we have such great prayer support
from people around the world - how blessed we are! THANK YOU! We will
update you when we hear of the test results. Until then we are...
Leaning
on the Everlasting Arms,
Becky
